Hi, I’m Daniel Meza—a lifelong artist who rediscovered his creative fire later in life. Art has always been part of who I am. As a kid, I won art contests in high school, dreamed of attending SCAD, and pursued a degree in art at the University of Houston. But life had other plans. I worked as a welder, then became a designer, and eventually a business owner in web development. For years, personal struggles pulled me away from art. Now, at 44, with those struggles behind me, I’m finally creating again—prolifically, freely, and with more clarity than ever.
What is Generative Artistry?
Generative Artistry is the name I gave to my process—a blend of AI-powered ideation and traditional hand-crafted execution. When I discovered AI tools like Leonardo AI, everything changed. I could take my concepts, weave them through historical painting styles, and iterate faster than ever before. It was like flipping a switch. I wasn’t replacing my creativity; I was finally unlocking it.
I use AI purely as a tool—never copying living artists or contemporary styles. Instead, I draw from centuries of visual language to spark something new. The result is a process where every piece begins digitally, through carefully directed prompts and aesthetic exploration, and then takes shape in the real world through my hands, brushes, textures, and intuition.
The Philosophy
In a world that often mistakes AI for laziness, I want to show the opposite. AI isn’t a shortcut—it’s a spark. And when you pair it with a human hand, a thoughtful eye, and ethical intention, the result is something genuinely beautiful. I believe it can help unlock artists who are stuck not because they lack talent, but because they can’t quiet the noise of life enough to begin. I want to show that it’s never too late to start making art again, and that tools like AI can help us return to beauty with more focus, more joy, and more output than ever before.
The Thrill of Found Art
Generative Artistry isn’t just about what I create—it’s about what I collect, too. I feature a growing vintage art collection on this site, all pieces I’ve rescued from thrift stores. These aren’t trendy prints or mass-produced decor—they’re forgotten paintings, aged works with cracked oil and stories in their brushwork. Over time, I’ve found everything from anonymous folk art to original lithographs by Toulouse-Lautrec and Chagall. For me, it was a revelation: you don’t have to be wealthy to collect meaningful art. Now I find joy in giving these works new life and showcasing them alongside my own.
The Mission
My mission with Generative Artistry is simple: to make beautiful work, and to help others rediscover their creativity. I don’t need every piece to have a deep message. Like a sunset, I want the viewer to feel something instantly—peace, resonance, wonder. That’s enough. And if I can help even one struggling artist realize that their ideas still matter, that they’re not blocked forever, then all of this is worth it.
